If possible could I ask a few questions about this new product?

1. Is this a similar product to the Trackvision product you used to sell? If so, what makes this one better?

2. Do I also need Traqvideo in addition to Traqview before I can "add" Traqstudio or does the non-upgrade version a combo of both Traqvideo and Traqstudio? I am guessing from your products lineup that this has replaced Traqvideo.

3. Do I need a special program in addition to Traqview and Traqstudio to upload my in-car video? More specifically, is a program like MovieMaker, etc, just needed for camcorders or is it also needed to upload chasecam video?

Sorry for all the questions but I need to know what makes this product different from Trackvision and if you care to also add why buy your product over the other?

Thanks so much for the reply!

Cheers,
Dell

It would appear that their new product is an extension to the TraqView Video, but basically adds the features that TrackVision offers.

With TraqView Video (TVV), you can add video to your data playback.
This means that when you fast forward / rewind your data playback, you also see a video playback too.
The limitation of this was that you needed the TVV software on your PC, so sharing videos with friends was hard.

Now with TraqStudio, you are able to do everything that TVV did, with the addition that you can make videos for sharing - just like TrackVision does.

TraqStudio is very easy to use, but not very customizable with only one dash layout.

TrackVision is a little harder to use, but a lot more customizable, with many sample dash layouts.

You still need a way to get your video onto your computer, which is easy with a chasecam (it saves an MPG file onto a Compact Flash card), but harder with a video camera, as you need to go through the capture / transfer routine.

After creating the videos (I usually create them in 'best quality'), I still use a 3rd party video software (Ulead VideoStudio) for converting formats / quality.

I hope that this helps.

Nick.

Rodney,

Nice video. FYI You can change the location and background transparency of the text annotation on the TraqStudio video creation form.

Nick is pretty right on about this.

Traqstudio offers you the ability to have all your data and video synced together instantly just like Traqview Video did, however it also has many more features and improvements throughout.
What makes it different is integration, a one step process to getting you the information you need to improve as a driver and for entertainment.
No separation between analyzing your data and creating a video you can share is what we are offering.

Traqstudio is an exclusive program that contains everything you need, you don't need any other versions of software.

Traqstudio allows you to create videos in any format you wish, along with quality settings and various other personal touches. From there you can easily upload your video to youtube or vimeo to instantly share. We may have something up our sheaves as well ;)

Hope that answers your questions
Thanks

Wow! Thanks to all for the great input.

Just a couple more questions if I may......

I noticed on the overlay that accel and brake were just on/off lights. Is there anything that allows for TPS?

Also, is the display customizable at all other than moving it around and transparency?

Is there plans for other displays or the ability to have ones that match he car gauges?

Is this product included with the Chasecam or just the full bundle? If not is there a Chasecam/Software bundle in the future to save a few bucks?

Thanks again for all the replies!

ps. the gearing feature was really neat to see in that video. Not a big deal as I am sure it is difficult to correct for but It was interesting to see the gear change several gears with the revs to figure out where it should be during a throttle blip (heel-toe).

We are always working on improvements and add on features, this is just the first take on the software.

Currently you cannot display TPS on the video, it is still viewable when you are analyzing the data/video though.

This product is included with the full bundle. It is also available as a stand alone piece of software. We may consider a chasecam/studio bundle for those customers with existing data systems.

Thanks for the input

Announcement!!!

Early Traqstudio disk may have an issue with a video codec that ONLY effects the Traqstudio Tips section found in the autorun menu. These are just basic video tips about the software and how it is used.

We apologize for the issue, all the video can be viewed here.

Holy Cow - that was easy!!!!!

I just attended the Natl Corvette Museum HPDE held at VIR 6/30 - 7/1/08. I've had Traqmate Complete and have wanted to add video. I have a small Aiptek video camera that records to an SD card, and last week I hooked up a lipstick camera with a wire down to the Aiptek in the glove box (when you watch the video below you'll see I still need to work out my audio input).

A couple days before the event I decided to purchase Traqstudio. I went online and made the purchase, but I didn't get any info on being able to download the software. I called and got one of the Traqmate guys and he said the whole team was out at Laguna Seca, but don't worry - just take my video and record my sessions with my Traqmate and I'd be able to integrate the video "post production".

Well, I was a little concerned. I thought it might be diffucult to figure everything out, and especially because I don't have a ChaseCam I was afraid it might be hard to synch everything up. I thought maybe I needed Traqstudio before I recorded video and data, but as I found out you do not - indeed, you integrate your video with your data very easily "post production".

Today I got to download the Traqstudio software. I opened up Traqview and within about 10 minutes I had read the User's Manual section on Traqstudio and had video displayed. It took another 5 or 10 minutes of playing around to find common reference points on the data and video and get them manually synched, but it was very easy. Within 30 minutes I had written the video of a couple laps that you can see in the youtube link below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1j7sVxWuj7U

I wrote that video for the "web", so it's at a lower resolution than when I view it from raw data on Traqview on my computer. When I view it on Traqview it's a beautiful clear almost HDTV picture - I am very pleased with the software and the resulting data/video integration!!!!

Thanks guys - you've done it again!!!!!

Bob

The interface has not changed substantially between Traqview Video and TraqStudio. We have added some capabilities but we have tried to make them easy to use, such as the "Write Video" button.
